Vicious Hazing Incident Leaves Alabama Quarterback With Broken Arm

The parents of a 14-year-old high school quarterback have filed a $12 million lawsuit against the Mobile County Public School System after a graphic video captured a brutal hazing incident that left their son with a broken arm.

The video was taken on April 27th and showed multiple football players ganging up on 14-year-old Rodney Kim Jr. on the day he was promoted to the varsity team. The older players hold him down on the floor while others throw punches into his arms and ribs. Then some of the players jump onto him, landing on his arms with all of their weight. As he writhes in pain another player runs in to stop the assault. Kim was taken to the hospital with a broken arm, busted lip, and multiple bruises.

In addition to $12 million in damages, Kim's parents are demanding that the entire coaching staff of the football program lose their jobs and that all 20 students involved face felony charges.

Four students were suspended by the school following the attack and three of those students have been taken into custody. Police are searching for the fourth suspect. Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich said her office is working with the Mobile Police Department to decide how many students should face charges for their roles in the attack and promised that they will "charge as many people as we can."

"This is really really really bad behavior. The message needs to be sent to any young person who thinks this is funny or cute that it's not. It's a crime and the individuals that were doing this are going to be held accountable for their actions," said Rich. "We just can't tolerate this kind of behavior. We are going to charge as many people as we can."
