RENTON -- Marshawn Lynch and Robert Turbin are Seahawks once again.
With the Seahawks' backfield obliterated by injuries over the last three weeks, the Seahawks have turned to the backfield responsible for carrying them to back-to-back Super Bowls to save their 2019 season.
The Seahawks have lost three running backs over the last three weeks. Chris Carson and C.J. Prosise were lost for the season on Sunday due to injuries sustained in the second quarter of the loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Carson fractured his hip while being tackled and Prosise fractured his arm taking a helmet from safety Budda Baker. Throw in the torn ACL sustained by Rashaad Penny two weeks ago against the Los Angeles Rams and the Seattle backfield has been wiped out.
Travis Homer was the only healthy running back for Seattle by the end of Sunday's loss to the Cardinals.
Lynch is one of the most iconic players in franchise history. Lynch had the best years of his career in Seattle from 2010-2015 as the focal point of Pete Carroll’s rushing-based offensive attack. Lynch racked up 6,347 yards and 57 touchdowns on the ground with 158 receptions for 1,309 yards and eight receiving touchdowns during his 82 games played for Seattle.
Lynch's agent, Doug Hendrickson, posted a photo of an NFL player contract with Lynch's name attached in announcing the agreement between the Seahawks and Lynch Monday night.
Turbin spent three years with the Seahawks are well after being a part of the same draft class as Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner in 2012. He had 274 touches for 1,355 yards and two touchdowns in his time with the Seahawks.
Turbin posted a photo of himself sitting in a locker bearing his name and the No. 34 on his instagram account Monday evening.
Neither Lynch or Turbin have played in the NFL this season. Lynch was placed on injured reserve with the Oakland Raiders last October due to a groin injury after appearing in six games for the team that season. Turbin played in two games for the Indianapolis Colts before being released in November.
